What is the Aupair?

An Aupair is a foreigner who lives with a host family and helps them with their children and household chores to learn about cultural differences, the language, and the education of the country in which they live. The host family provides three meals a day, room and board, and utilities free of charge for the Aupair.

The purpose of this program is to live and have various experiences while helping each other.

They often Aupair for the purpose of learning about cultural differences and how the Australian family raises their children. Of course, the reasons vary from person to person, such as to save on expensive rent or to be involved with children. We screen and train all our Aupairs before placement.

HAHA has Part-Time (Demi-pair) and Full-Time (Aupair).

Demi-pairs are perfect for families who need extra help.

(15-18 hours per week help)

E.g., 7:30-8:30 (Mon-Fri) +3:00-5:30(Mon-Fri)

7:30-8:30 am

Unpack dishwasher, help ready for school, pack lunch, laundry, clean the breakfast

3:00-5:30 pm

Pick up children from school, play with them, have afternoon tea, and prepare dinner.

If you require more than 18 hours, usually family pays hourly pocket money

(E.g.,$20-25/ hour)  The pocket money should be negotiated with the Aupair.

Aupairs are suited to families with smaller children

who need assistance throughout the day.

(25-40 hours a week help)

E.g., 9:00am – 12:00 pm + 2:00pm-6:30pm (Mon-Thu) 7.5 hrs

9:00-12:00 pm

Unpack dishwasher, breakfast, laundry, play with children

12:00-2:00 pm

Break time for Aupair

2:00-6:30 pm

Play with children, do laundry, prepare meals, clean up dinner

Advantages of Full-Time Aupair

Flexibility to accommodate shift work and sudden illnesses of children.

Children are less likely to get sick at daycare.

Advantages of Demi-Pair

Reduces the burden of housework and childcare by having a demi-pair help for a few hours before school or during busy after-school hours. Eliminates the need to place children in after-school care.

Disadvantages of having an Aupair/demi-pair

First-time acceptance can be stressful because both parties are not used to each other and cannot say what they want to say, or because of misunderstandings. We recommend a plan with full support for first-time families
